To the first answerer. You should have said damaged not damage. Don't correct others when you're not perfect. BTW, you missed died. Should have been dyed. : )
Now, to answer the question. I suspect your friend did a 2 step process and went lighter. This is where you bleach the hair first, then add the color. Probably got the bleach on previously bleached hair. Either that or she left the color on too long. Either of these things could cause breakage.
