Hair dye problem?

My hair is naturally brown. Everytime I dye it (usually a different shade of brown) it always comes out with a really red tint to it. Does anyone know a good brand of dye that wont do this. I have done it myself and got it professionally done and it always come out red. Help plz

Hair dye problem?

I would get a new stylist-if you let someone know that your hair naturally pulls a red tone when colored they are supposed to account for that in their formula. there is a reason that there are so many different tonal bases in a professional color line. example-if you don't want your hair to turn reddish (in the warm family) someone should use a brown color with an ash or violet base to it (cool family) to cancel this out. there is a reason they drilled the color wheel into our heads in beauty school-find a good high end salon and explain this to them...a good stylist will know exactly what your talking about, and be kinda impressed that you know it too : )

if you live in fl.....

you may need to use a pretreatment on your hair for the color to take to it. you can get one at your local beauty supply store. (sally's)?

Well, If it has the word ash in the color you choose... it will "cancel out " the red.

Hair dye problem?

naturally brown hair has dominate red tones....and unfortunately are really hard to get out without bleaching which causes damage to the hair or applying ash (grayish tint) .... the color results after you do either of these are usually not very pretty.

your best bet would be to go to a color expert and let them deal with it....on your own it's just too hard and will end up costing as much when it's all said and done.

You might think about going back brown and getting highlights or something.

Hair dye problem?

get colors that have the word ash in it. or neutral
