Which hair dye is less damaging?

I dye my hair to cover gray. I started out using a level 1 (Clairol Natural Instincts) and moved to a level 2 (Just for Men). Would it be better to use a level 1 more often or the level 2 less often? Say I was using the level one once every 2 weeks and the level 2 once every 4 weeks. The level 1 says "as safe as shapoo". Is that for real?

I'm very concerned with the condition of my hair since it is thin. I've started to take Biotin and use a biotin shampoo. Do the shampoos and conditioners made for color treated hair really keep it from fading? Which are good? Thanks!!!!!

go to sallys beauty supply and chose the color you like, then buy a 10 volume developer, it just deposits, less damaging. most box colors have peroxide and they lift(LIGHTEN) a bit:)

Just look for ones with no ammonia. Those are very damaging.

Which hair dye is less damaging?

semi permanents are best because they dont mess the hair protein as much or a no ammonia furmula make sure to condition ur hair a lot and keep it healthy

The stronger the dye (higher the level), the more damaging it is. Honestly, i think you should just follow the package instructions. Stick with one dye (such as Just For Men), and follow the instructions precisely. Don't dye your hair more than you need to. Color care shampoos do work, but don't expect miracles. You might want to try this product.. it's by Frederic Fekkai, you can find it on sephora.com... it's a line for thinning hair. I forget the name of it now, but it's easy to find.

You know what, though? Salt %26amp; pepper hair is very sexy... if you're worried, go natural. Dye is never healthy, but it is safer than bleaching.... stay away from anything that lightens your hair and you should be fine :)
