Can I refrigerate leftover hair dye and use it later?

I have very short hair and I dyed my hair recently. I only used half the bottle but don't want to waste the other half. Can I refrigerate my extra commercial hair dye (L'Oreal) so I can use it later for touchups and roots? Or does hair dye eventually go bad?

Once the peroxide has developed the dye is basically useless. I wouldn't try to save it.

just use it all.

You can use it later without placing it in the refrigerator. Not if it's bleach though.

if the bottle closes securely, then yes. the packaging just says to throw it away so that you will buy more next time you need it. a friend of mine saves her dye in the fridge all the time, and it is still full strength, even if you are dyeing your hair blonde. it may vary depending on the brand or quality of the dye.
