Can I bleach my hair then use a regular red hair dye?

I used to dye my hair red, then foolisly decided to go back to my natural very dark brown colour. I used a clairol prelightener on my hair about 10 months ago as I really wanted to go back to red but it didn't lighten the part that had been dyed brown as much as my natural hair. When I put the red dye on it after it wasnt as vibrant a red on the bottom as on the top. Im still desperate to go red again and cant afford to go to a salon. I was wondering if I could achieve an even colour by bleaching my hair? Also if a red dye would then take to my hair properly? If anyone can help or give me tips on how to do this I would be grateful. x

if you bleach your hair, and then dye it over, it will get really really damaged, but it works. i bleached my hair over the summer, and put teal undertones and it was really really damaged. but it looked awesome!

Find a beauty store and get this stuff called kalidescope you put it on your hair until the desired shade, it goes through them all from brown to redish to orange eventually to white. That will let you get your hair to the right shade before you dye it again.

you will also have alot left in`case you decide to change colors again.
