Hair dye washes right out?

I have dyed my hair, bleached it and many other things that kill it. Basically it is to the point now where it won't hold color anymore. I tried it at home and I had my stylist dye it a couple times but it washes out within a week. Any tips for getting it to stay, besides just let it grow out?

well i suggest that the next time u color ur hair, rinse it out with cold water, use color enhancing shampoo's and conditioners, and most of all use a color sealer.

What has happened is that you have basically stripped away the cuticle. There are 3 layers to hair the Cuticle the medulla and the cortex. The cuticle is the outer layer that protects your hair. The medulla is where the color is stored.

When hair is colored the cuticle which looks and feels like fish scales under a microscope, open up and allows the color to penetrate the medulla and changes it. One you rinse it out the cuticle closes, hardens and you retain the color.

I think that the only option that you have now is to let it grow out. Sorry but that is the truth. In the meantime you may want to consider getting the temporary hair rinses or mousse that are made by Roux (find them at Sally's) and use temporary rinses that match either your regrowth or your processed part of your hair
