can i lighten my hair with a semi permanent hair dye? or does it have to be permanent? pls help!

no you shouldn't lighten your hair with semi-permanent. it will fade to orange. you really shouldn't bleach/lighten your hair at home. you should do at a salon

u have to bleach it. depends your hair color. and what uve done to ur hair in the past.

you CAN'T lighten your hair with semi-permant, there's no amonia in it. Semi is deposit color only, it doesn't lift the hair.

...there are only two ways to lighten hair...

1) with 'bleach"

2) with permanant color such as a highlift blonde. Keep in mind permanant color will not lift colored hair.

If you can't afford going to a salon, see if there's a cosmotolgy school in the area, the prices are beyond cheap!

i have tried lightening my hair a million times..if u go semi permanent it will eventually fade into an orange brassy color if you have red in your hair at all. I would go permanent all the way.. Good Luck!

There's a dye out called total blonde. I used it on my hair which is black and it made me blonde. HOWEVER: start at your ends and work up to your roots. The roots take to the dye super fast and it will turn orange. But overall, that's the best tip I have. If your hair is naturally blonde, and it's dark now, I'd personally SLOWLY go back to blonde. Go to auburne then to dark blone and then to light, or however far you need to go. Good luck.

you can lighten it, but it wont stay for ever seeing as it is a semi=permanment hair dye. if you want the colour for ever, use a permament hair dye. good luck! =]

Permanent, Semi will not lighten because it doesnt contain any peroxide, ammonia, or any lightening agents. Just strait color.

If you dyed your hair already with a permanent dye, than the only way to remove that color is with a permanent color.

Semi permanent will work on another semi -perm. hair dye, etc.
