The name of the hair dye is Seven-Eight by a Japanese company called PAON. The front of the box says its Ammonia free, but in the incredients, it says it contains Ammonium Chloride, which is basically Ammonium (NH4+) as opposed to the forumla Ammonia (NH3). Is Ammonia free hair dye also supposed to be free of Ammonium though?
The hair dye I purchased says that its ammonia free but it has ammonium?
No, totally different.
Unless the NH4 releases a H due to chemical changes then don't worry.

Wow, that is the biggest deceiving ad that I have ever seen. Yes, ammonia and ammonium contain the same elements. Try Bigen. This is a Japanese product that does not contain any ammonia or peroxide. Use this if you are darkening your hair.
