Does hair dye prevent growth?

I'm black, generally, black womens hair grows slower. My hair is kinda exceptional, it grows fairly fast, and after getting my hair cut last year, its just about starting to grow back, and now I want to dye it. Will dying my hair prevent it from growing? Just curious. If a lot a people say yes, i guess i'll just cut it again. but please help me!
