Another hair dye question?

I have been having my naturally light brown hair dyed really dark brown for some time and finally decided I would like to go back to my light brown hair color. since the dark brown is permanent and my hair is almost to my waist I do not have the patience to let it grow out. my question is would it be better to have the color stripped or would it be better to have it bleached and then dyed brown again? I don't mind loosing a few inches if either process dries out my hair alot...

OMG, do NOT strip your hair if it's that long, it's already sustained damage from the steady coloring. (I know of a similiar situation that resulted in the girl's hair breaking off just below her ears from the harsh chemicals. That would be me. :-s)

The double-processing you're describing could easily damage your hair beyond help...I highly recommend calling one of the Coloring Consultants on the "answer line" that most store-bought hair coloring products offer and presenting your problem to her/him. Check the website for the company of the product you use most frequently, they usually list a toll-free number for specialized help and answers.

If you're hell-bent on changing now, perhaps you can consider just highlighting with a shade close to your natural color until it grows out more...? It may be less damaging overall to just highlight until you've got enough growth to cut off the dead, damaged stuff. God bless and good luck!

let a professional do it. Don't attempt it at home yourself.

Ive got from dark to light as light can be back and forth back and forth-your best bet is to bleach it -then dye it brown again. You probally wont lose any inches this way.

I don't think bleaching your hair is the best idea since it will also bleach your natural color which is the one you want to keep. Besides you don't want to damage your hair, bleaching is a very harsh procedure. The best thing would be to start trimming the ends so the darker color gets cut as your hair grows and eventually you'll be back to the natural color. If you don't want to wait that long you might try to dye your hair with a color closest to your natural hair color, that way the darker tone may go a shade or two lighter and the difference won't be so striking.

go to a hair stylist and let them do it. its better than doing it your self and having it look really bad
