Hair Highlighting from a Hair Dye?

I am going to dye my hair dark brown. I next want to add blue/black highlights to my hair. I have never seen the blue/black color in highlights, so I was wondering if there was a way I could highlight my hair from a box of hairdye, not a box of highlights.

thanx.. :)

Those are lowlights, not highlights.

Highlights are the same thing as regular color, just a smaller amount is provided.

If you absolutely must do it yourself, get a friend to help you and use foils to separate the hair out and keep the black dye from touching the brown hair.

You can use a regular box of color as long as it's a creme and not a gel/liquid formula.

Eh I hate telling people how to use box dyes, and black dyes.

Just know that black will have to be stripped out of your hair using bleach when you decide to go back to your natural color. You'll wind up with orange, fried hair and a big color correction bill when you tire of the black.

You could get a shower cap and cut holes in it and pull random bits of your hair through
