Why wont she let me dye my hair?????

My Mum wont let me dye my hair perminatly and i dont get why. i asked her if i could dye my hair a golden blonde. she said no. six months later i asked again. and she still said no. then a few weeks later i asked if i could have highlights to see if i could and she said yes. but i havent highlighted it and she wont tell me why i cant dye it! its just so frustrating! I'm 14 and my nan said my mum had her hair dyed from 14 so why cant i? can anyone offer an explanation for why shes acting like this?

maybe communicating with your mom in a different way might work show her a picture of what you want ,her gold blonde hair what she is thinking of might be different to yours. she said yes to hi lights so its a start ,say you just want a few hi-lights in your hair to start off with ,then later add more .

some parents dont like there daughters changing the way they look my mom usually says im perfect the way i am (ive died my hair permenently im 12) dats probably the reason otherwise its probably do do withe the effects such as wreking ur hair or getting a alergic reaction etc...

Your Mum doesn't want you to grow up too fast, she wants you to stay her baby girl. You might think it's all about your hair, but no doubt you're pretty enough already ! You don't need to be blonde. You know what people say about blondes.

It sounds like your nan is on your side, why don't you ask your nan to take you ? If you paid for it yourself then your mum can't do anything about it. And maybe when you get it done, your mum will like it and let you keep doing it.

Just because your mum dyed her hair when she was 14 dosnt mean to say its right you can.....

your mum is acting in a manor that most mums should act like.... well done to your mum, Your only a child, next you will be complaining that your mum wont let you wear mini skirts , high heels slap loads of makeup on and hang around on the streets.....

Your mum is protecting your childhood....

Maybe your mother is keeping you in mind. When you dye hair after time people seem to enjoy it and they keep changing the color. In time what you do is die your hair, killing the nutrients and oils, and all the good natural stuff. Maybe she's looking after you. And personally, I find highlights to be 4x better looking on females than the actual full dye. Your eyebrows would then have to be dyed, and it's not a natural color. Listen to mum, she always knows best.

she's being a mother and taking care of you, my hair is very light blond and i thought i was being cleaver when i died it black blue, it didn't stop falling out for 2 years. You proberly have beautiful hair and thats why she's not letting you.

I wouldn,t do it if I were you. It really damages your hair, I have to do it cos I got a few grey hairs lol (i,m 38 although you probably think I,m ancient lol) I,m sure your hair looks lovely the way it is. I would highlight it if I were you, as a compromise. If you start dying it so soon , by the time your in your 30,s it,ll be dry as straw and break. xx

Well my mom wont let me dye my hair either and im 13. But she did let me get a rinse. (Jazzing) It's like dying your hair but its only a tint of the color and it's temp.

dying you hair really dries it out, (believe me), any way an all over dye is out of fashion now,

if mums letting you get highlights that's great, these aren't too harsh as its only on sections of your hair and to be honest look 1000 times better than an all over dye, as it isn't as noticable when it grows out, there's nothing worse than the root growth showing through, highlights make this less noticable,

perhaps you could persuade her to allow you to get two colours done, a highlight and a low light,

i have had 3 colours put through my hair and i love it, i have a blond for the highlights and a mid tone and a chocolate brown tone to give the lowlight,

just make sure you use a good conditioner for highlighted-dyed hair to keep it in good condition.

You will damage your hair by colouring it. Try and preserve it's condition for as long as possible - you'll have plenty of time to experiment with colour when you're older. Your mum knows what she is talking about :)

highlights are more natural and grow out better then a permanent all over colour that yu wuld have to re-do every 4-6 weeks as you will get regrowth and you will not like the roots showing. with highlights you dont have the same commitment and they look better because yiu can change the colour whenever yiy have them dne where yiu can go blonder r darker depending on what look you want that season. highlights are a better option anyway so if your mum says yes to that i would jump at the chance as yu will get a more multi tonal look anyway! so dont be upset be happy she wants yu to get highlights! yur friends will be so jealous and also make sure you get a full head so you will definatly get an all over lighter look.

If your mum colours her hair, she may be doing this because she misses her natural hair colour and does not want you doing the same thing, if that makes sense.

My mum was like that aswell, and when I asked her why I couldnt dye my hair, she said I have really beautiful hair and she doesnt want me spoiling it at this age as she did.
