Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

im a teenager and i wanna dye my hair but everyone says its not that good for ur hair.....so is it true and if so why? what does it do to my hair?

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

i would advise you sweety to go get foil hi-lites done at a shop u c they give enough lift to brighten your hair and i want to tell u they have been using hair color for yrs and if u abuse it and USE it all the time for several yrs it could damage it also if u let someone do it that dont know what there doing ---now for your foils call all over there reasonable if u call ma n pa shop s too they have to go thru everything just as the classy shops do---dont wash ur hair b4 u plan to get it hi-lites remember u get it hi-lited heavy or lite the heavier u go the more hair color u will see also it grows out nicer so u dont have to rush in to have the new growth touched up rite away i am a stylist for 25 yrs goodluck u will love foil hi-lites!!!!!!!!

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

It dries your hair out like crazy, and you have to keep dying it when your roots begin to grow out. The earlier you start, the more unhealthy it will be in the future. If you do dye it, condition your hair everyday to keep it moisturized and as healthy as possible.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

I dye my hair, but I'm a lot older than you. The hair dye has lots of chemicals so your hair will get damaged. It'll no doubt get very dry and brittle. I do mine to color the gray.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

well. I personally think hair dye isnt as bad as people say it is. But if you use it too much (get ur hair dyed every month) it can be dangerous.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

It only damages your hair if you do it wrong. If you use permanant hair color this is more powerful than semi. If you leave it on longer than suggested this will cause unnecessary dryness. But if you do it right and use the right shampoos and conditioners your hair will look healthy.

My mother has been dying her hair for several years. She uses Loreal Color Spa, semi-perm, doesn't over blowdry her hair, uses Pantene and doesn't use hair spray gels or mouses. Her colored hair looks better and a lot healthier than my uncolored hair. Not to mention people these days are all about making their hair stay in one place by applying a pound of mouse to it and using shampoos recommended by their salon (which honestly never worked, I've tried and I've also worked in a salon), they over process, over dry, over work their hair and it looks like crap. You will have a small amount of dryness if you color it, this always happens, but you can prevent how dry it gets by taking care of it properly. Hair always grows out, the color doesn't stay on your head or in your roots so the dryness also grows out, it doesn't stay with you with age unless you have your head dipped in a bowl of amonia and peroxide your whole life. So you figure it out.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

The most serious danger is an allergic reaction which could kill you.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

too much dyeing or dye too often will really dry your hair out and then it tends to thin out. You have the rest of your life to dye your hair. It will be gray soon enough. Leave your hair alone.

by the way, it also effects your hair differently if you're a teen. Hormones do strange things. you may not get the color you asked for. like orange instead of red or blond....at least wait until you're over the homronal teens. (if you are that young)

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

Hair dye isnt as bad as people make out but on ly as long as when you get your hair dyed , you get a deep conditioning treatment to go with it - it works miracles!

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

It can be good for your hair but if the other ppl think it's bad for your hair it's their fault for doing it themselves.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

yes it is because hair dye makes ur hair drie up and if you do it once you are going to have to keep on putting it on because it will look like you have two colors on your hair.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

people just say that but hair dye is not really that bad for your hair its just that people just go crazy with hair dye, they constantly just keep dying their hair like every week or more now that is bad! but if u just want to dye your hair and keep the color theres nothing at all wrong with that!

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

I've been coloring my hair for many years.....and it can be damaging if you don't take care of your hair. My hair is very fine. so by coloring it.....the hair seems to hold style better. But you must condition and get regular trims. If you decide to do it.....you should go to a professional first. They will give you a deep conditioning treatment and tell how to keep your hair healthy. Good Luck !!!

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

hair dye isnt that bad, ive died my hair many times and it didnt affect my hair condition at all, only the colors. but putting chemicals in ur hair is risky, not only dye. it just depends on ur hair type

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

People have been coloring their hair for many years. Trying to do it cheap will leave you unhappy with the result so I recommend only having this service done at a reputable salon. They will tell you how to keep your hair healthy. Go for it, you have many years ahead of you so enjoy some highlights or full colors. You could even try some semi permanents that will allow you to change more often.

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

My mother first let me dye my hair when I was 14. I was a natural platinum blonde and dyed it Auburn. I've been dyeing it Auburn ever since. I've dyed my hair now for 16 years. Once every 3 months. My hair is neither dry nor brittle. I have no split ends. It's all about the product you use and the after care. I personally use Garnier Nutrisse (it's has fruit extracts and leaves my hair soft and conditioned). You have to use a really good quality shampoo and condition for color treated hair. Again, I use Garnier products because they condition so well. Honestly, if you can't afford the follow-up care for your hair don't dye it. If you use the wrong coloring product and the wrong after-care your hair can become damaged.

The ONLY time my hair was damaged by colouring was at a salon. They use really intense chemicals and my hair was totally over-processed. I will never have my hair done in a salon again. Home colouring is easier, more convenient and just plain cheaper. I have thick hair that goes to the middle of my back and I was charged $85 to color my hair that one time. If you are afraid of not getting the colour evenly through your hair, have someone help you with it. I really, really, really, don't recommend a salon. It's overpriced and they just try to bully you into buy expensive after product. Who wants to pay $25 for a bottle of shampoo??

Is hair dye really bad as people make it seem?

no i dont think so. in september i dyed high lighted my hair twice and dyed it 3 times. as long as you condition well your hair will be fine. i also used hot oil treatment and got a redken hair treatment at a salon. that really helped. also get trims regularly for the split ends.

Lemon juice or hair dye at stores?

hiii there.

well i'd like to make my hair blonder then it is. so my question is should i get the hair dye at the stores or use lemon juice becuase i've heard that works. which one won't dry out my hair as much? i know going to a beauty saloon would be the best option butt that's expensive to dye your hair.

thanks thanks thanks :]

Lemon juice or hair dye at stores?

Lemon juice does work naturally but it may not give you the results you want. As opposed to dying it, try Sun In, its a spray bottle and lightens your hair and it costs about $3.00. Its better for your hair, less chemicals and will give you better results then lemon juice. :)

Lemon juice or hair dye at stores?

lemon juice works. (this is a girl on my dads username) I have blonde hair, and my hair got alloot blonder, but i also got highlights and that made my hair alloot blonder to. soo hope this helps =)

Lemon juice or hair dye at stores?

Well... lemon juice can work but you have to put it on your hair, then go out in the sun...

Bleaching at home can be less expensive but if you don't have someone there to help you, it can end up in disaster =P

Bleaching does dry out your hair because it removes the natural pigment of your hair and strips away color and moisture. I have used bleach and my hair didn't get too dry, just use a damage repairing shampoo %26amp; conditioner afterwards. AND DON'T FORGET THAT DEEP CONDITIONER!!!

Lemon juice is a natural acid and can do the same thing.

But as long as you have a good deep conditioner and don't leave it on too long, it'll all be fine.

Go to Sally's and ask them for a good deep conditioner after bleaching.

Just don't use perioxide!!!!!!!!!!

Lemon juice or hair dye at stores?

i dont suggest using lemon juice i know a lot of people do it, and it does work, but the acids really are not good for your hair, and the sun isnt always good for your hair either, and if you do decide to get real haircolor or highlights or any type of chemical done to your hair afterwards, it could do some damage, id rather you be safe and go to a salon, you would be happier with it.

Pink or blue hair dye?

Ive been thinking about dying parts of my hair hot pink or blue or some other crazy color but i have very dark hair. does anyone know any hair dyes [i would prefer temporary but i will do permanent] that will show up on dark hair. i dont want to bleach it and then dye it though.

Pink or blue hair dye?

Pink. As I can see, u r looking for a soft scene look. Not too flashy, but trendy and stylish. I like your idea of "screamy" colors in dark hair. If I went for that kind of look, i would probably go with hot pink. The contrast always looks great. Blue is too similar to darker hair colors.

If u want an intense and clear color, u will first have to bleach the parts of hair u want to dye. On a light base, the color would always look brighter. It's like painting on a white paper.

Hope I helped!

Pink or blue hair dye?

you should definetly dye strips pink or lime green...

or purple!

Pink or blue hair dye?

I don' t really have any tips but I do have a story. I got pink tips in my hair, ( I bleached the tips first), It looked sooooo cool. Then a week later the pink was gone and now I'm stuck with blonde tips. Everyone says it looks cool, but it's not the same. good luck !

Pink or blue hair dye?

I also have dark hair, I got some cheap permanant hair dye and put some red highlights in a few years ago. They showed up perfectly! and faded into an awesome pink! I recommend going to your local beauty supply store and getting something there, if you don't have one, try walmart! I don't remember the brand that I got, but I don't think it matters, if you leave it on your hair until you see a difference then it should work! I always leave it on longer than what the box says... but DO NOT go over 45-50 min!

P.S. I'd go with pink highlights! = )

Pink or blue hair dye?

You have to bleach it first if you want dramatic results. Otherwise, the color wouldn't show up, or anly show up a little bit.

Pink or blue hair dye?

i've done both... it doesnt matter which one you do, it will fade out within a few weeks. (it's not possible to make permanant unnatural colored hairdye)

so you could try both in a short period of time.

and you'd have to bleach out your hair first. sorry, but it doesnt show up on dark hair.

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

last week i dyed my hair black.it came out way too dark for me.i want to remove it and maybe go for my natural hair color which is brown. any ideas on what products i can use to save $$$$ instead of going to the hair salon? and is it okay to dye your hair again a week after??

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

mix about a tablespoon of baking soda with like 2 table spoons of shampoo and wash your hair with that rinse it and repeat until you see the dye washing out

then go to sally's and buy an at home bleach kit and have someone apply it to your hair (avoid your roots!) and leave it on for around 5-10 minutes and wash it out then dye your hair brown or whatever color you want

trust me this will work and don't worry about you hair falling out because it won't if you do it carefully and make sure you condition your hair daily after you dye it to keep it healthy

=]

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

don't worry about saving money go to the salon you don't want your hair falling out doing it yourself

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

unless you want you hair to fall off, you should probably go to the hair salon and get all the color stripped out as best they can. the time and money is unavoidable. i went through the same thing

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

ur going to have to bleach ur hair then dye it brown again and about how long you should wait I'm not really sure

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

Nothing perm. Go to a local cosmo shop, here my favorite is Sally's. In the dye section, there is hair color remover.

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

Color won't lift color. You have to use bleach or haircolor remover.

The easiest option, instead of trying to remove all of it, go with heavy highlights. You'll end up with a lighter, overall color, with less damage and less difficulty.

How to remove permanent hair dye from hair??

i am going through the exact same thing i dyed my hair with herbal Essenes natural instincts new hair color it was so pose to wash out and it didn't so i cut my hair to my shoulders and i have been trying to let it grow out but now its looking tacky so I'm going to go to Sally's and try to find there hair color remover. your story makes me feel better thanks

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

I have seen commercials for hair dye for men that says it just covers the gray hair, but I have not seen any women's dye that says that on it. I don't want to change my hair color; I only want the gray colored. Is there anything like that?

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

color will take to all of your hair. the male color products you are referring to still color all of the hair...they are semi-permanent colors though. Men use a color that is lighter than their natural to blend away the gray.

If you want the most gentle color to fade the grey a bit, then choose a semi-perm color that is lighter than your natural...that way the grey will be dimmed, but you natural color won't be changed. It will gradually fade up so that you don't have a harsh root regrowth line. If you have a lot of resistant grey, it might not be strong enough to totally cover the gray...but it is the safest way to blur the gray away.

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

Try henna.Henna does not colour the hair that much and dyes the grey hair.Plus its natural.

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

They have hair dyes for women to cover gray, but I think it colors all of the hair as well. My mom has gray mainly around the temples and she uses (and loves) what's called hair mascara. It comes in a tube and you apply it with a wand. She got hers at a beauty supply store and they had a nice selection of colors. The only problem with this is that it's not a permanent solution. You would need to apply it daily.

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

Gray hair is more resistant to hair color, and i know of none that will just color the gray. Henna is okay if you don't have clorinated water, or go into swimming pools as it will turn green or purple with the chemical reaction. The comercials don't tell you it coats the hair, not just the grey. It builds up and does exactly what i told you henna will when exposed to chlorine. A temporary hair color does a good job, and covers all the hair. The bonus is it will give shine, and make the other hair more lusterious also. It will generally wash out in two to three weeks. There are a lot more products on the market every day, I use to do hair for a living, and to keep up with all the new products is almost impossible. There are plenty that will help you though. Someone else may have a newer idea. Good Luck!

Is there any hair dye that will only color the gray and not the rest of my hair?

HI THERE!

The color they advertise for men is more gray blending that gray coverage.

You can use the same thing, if you're not going to go to a salon, on your hair. IF YOU DO, make sure you get the same color as your natural color or a shade darker. IT WILL FADE eventually. The benefit is you're not using a harsh peroxide and you won't have a line of color once your hair starts growing in.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask any other questions: latinguy1970@yahoo.com

BTW, if you do go to a salon, you can tell them you only want to blend the gray. They should know what that means. I would actually recommend you do that first before doing it at home. It might cost you a bit, but its cheaper than having it fixed.

Ideas for black hair dye?

hey x

i have black hair dye and i want to use it but i dont want to just dye the whole lot as that is just bland and what most people do

how can i dye it in a different way ( streaks coon tails etc ) so it looks different and not just completely black.

all ideas welcome p.s i cant really add other bright colours cos of school and parents grr x

my hair is currently medium brown, shoulder length (but i have extensions which make it just below my bust) with choppy layers and a side fringe

Ideas for black hair dye?

Test the dye first, in case your hair changes its colour.

Why not go to a salon and have streaks put in?

Ideas for black hair dye?

Just do all of your hair black. I have dark blond hair, and every time i dyed it, no matter what i did, i wasn't happ with it. Then i dyed my hair black, and i love it. Its awesome looking, not bland. It looks sweet if you get the darkest they make. Hope this helps.

Ideas for black hair dye?

Why don't you only colour the layers underneath, and leave the top part as it is?

Ideas for black hair dye?

go with straight black and get blonde highlights they wont complain about that will they? other than that you can do stripes in your hair horizontal... like hte opposite way your hair normally sits straight, it looks awesome =] normally thats done with brighter colors on darker hair tho.

Ideas for black hair dye?

have black all the way through with a caramel or fox brown colour slashed or sliced through your hair or have low lights but slices are better you will see the colour through the layers this looks nice because ive got it..lol.x

Ideas for black hair dye?

GO TO A HAIRDRESSER! U'll really regret it if it goes wrong, and if they do ur hair horrible sue them.

Ideas for black hair dye?

If your gonna do it you'll have to dye it all black, then have a few highlights put in afterwards.

Be careful though, make sure its what you really want because I knew a girl who dyed her hair permanantly black then hated it and tried to grow it out. Because she had naturally light hair it looked like she was bald on top!

If you don't like it you could always have a hairdresser colour it back to your natural colour so don't worry too much!

Ideas for black hair dye?

You should try dying the underside of your fringe, then clip up the top layer of your hair (I wouldn't put any there, it shows through faster and is more obvious if you get it wrong).

With your hair down (all except the top layer) you can just use a comb or your fingers to add the dye where you want it. I'd go for a little down the side of your face your fringe is, as a continuation of the dye there.

Then just streak it through at the back, clip up some more hair if you want an effect that shows off your layers better, by adding some streaks to each layer.

Here are a couple of pics to help you get the idea:

(they may not all be the right colour, but the blond helps you see where the black dye is anyway)
