Trying to dye my hair from red to blonde, any suggestions?

I have light red/blonde hair right now, but I want to lose the red. Tried just using a box of hair dye but it just made it reddish blonde from the reddish brown it was. Would I have to bleach it to get the red out? Some of it is dye and will fade I suppose but my hair has quite a bit of red in it naturally.

Go to the hair dressers. Natural red hair is really tricky to dye. Especially blonde. I tell everyone this. If you want to be blonde GO TO PROFESSIONALS. Its so easy to mess up blonde. WIthout the right mixture you could damage your hair and end up with really bad shades and splotches. Which you dont want obviously. Bleach is tricky and needs to be applied properly and for the right amount of time. Generally blonde dyes you buy at the store are made for people who already have blonde hair and they need a color boost or root touch up. And you dont have to go to the best salon in town. Just one that you know is decent and let them know you would like to go blonde.

I am a natural dark blonde but LOVE being platinum and even going from one shade of blonde to another is tricky. So I hope this helps.

I think you should post a link with your picture so we all can get a visual because I really can't tell what your hair looks like now.

you need to go to a sally's beauty supply or someplace like it, and get this stuff called unred. It's a small bottle of die that will get most, if not all the red out.

Bleach would best way to do it. Dyes could leave red still in your hair.

The salons have better product than is over the counter so perhaps you want to spend the money the first time doing it right then you can take over and do it yourself after that?
